We’ve got 30 tatami arriving late next week. Renovations are finishing up today/tomorrow, and we get keys tomorrow afternoon! We start building the mat frame this weekend, and we should have the mat laid by next weekend! We had our first not entirely unanticipated issue yesterday. Turns out that the renovation involved taking up the carpet, but leaving the mastic layer in place on the concrete slab. I misunderstood the real estate folks, and wasn’t specific enough in the pre-lease negotiations. This means we’ll have to lay carpet prior to opening. Not a huge expense, but another task to sort out. These things happen… We had enough schedule/budget margin in place that this isn’t a huge impact.
